Last Rites Gallery presents: Nomadic Nights exhibit
Last Rites Gallery is delighted to present “Nomadic Nights”, a solo exhibition featuring new character-driven paintings by artist and illustrator Shane Pierce.
A natural storyteller, Pierce illustrates an ominous narrative with a cast of wandering subjects. The tight, expressive features of his characters, known as Nomads, pair the dark atmosphere with an almost erratic energy to the landscape around them. Traveling salesmen donning briefcases of proverbial baggage, bearing their dark secrets and conflicting emotions of regret. Viewers are invited to observe a contemporary noir world through compositions that teeter between reality and lucid dreams.
The idea of Nomads is a reflection of Pierce’s multifaceted career as a creative, shifting from; animator to an architectural draftsman to video game concept artist, albeit always circling back to his true passion of painting.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Pierce is a self-taught artist who has worked professionally with major entertainment companies for 20 years. He is currently living and working in North Carolina as a full-time creative and artist.
The opening reception for “Nomadic Nights” will be held at Last Rites Gallery, 325 W 38th St #1, New York, NY 10018 on February 23rd, 2018 beginning at 7 PM. This event is open to the public.
The exhibition will be on view through March 24th, 2018. For inquiries, or to request a collector preview of the exhibition, please email info@lastritesgallery.com.
